Mendoza & Associates has been awarded a contract with Sacramento County to provide construction support services for the Terminal Modernization Program at the Sacramento International Airport. Services include construction management and administration, construction inspection, offsite source and equipment testing, materials testing, documentation control, change order analysis and negotiations, claims mitigation, analysis and resolution, schedule review and analysis, and contract enforcement.

The Terminal Modernization Program consists of new terminal facilities, named the new Central Terminal B, demolition of existing Terminal B (built in 1967), and construction of other ancillary improvement projects. The existing terminals have about 600,000 square feet and the new terminal will increase the area to a total of 1,000,000 square feet. The Terminal design includes a 200 room hotel and a significant concession program. The 23-gate airside concourse includes an international arrivals facility. A people mover system will transport passengers between the landside terminal building and the airside concourse. A two-level roadway system separates arriving and departing traffic and provides access to a new 5,000 car parking garage. Construction of the $1.25 billion terminal program is anticipated to begin in mid 2008. The projected opening date for the new terminal and concourse is winter 2011. Much of the work will be completed utilizing the Design Bid Build project delivery method.
